Live Rock to increase GH

I have some live rock, that I let dry; and is now dead rock. I was about to to sell it to the LFS. How ever I read that if i put vinger on it and it fizzes then It will increase my gH and help stablize my pH. I don't much care if I kill anything that may still be alive on the rock, just looking for a long term way to stablize my gH.

If too much organic debree is still on and in the rock it may cause problems. I´d make sure the rock is really clean first and then monitor the GH to find the ideal amount of rock to keep in the tank
