Live sand

Is Arag-Alive Reef Sand any good or is there something else i should be looking at?Any good sources for LR?
 
its good sand and that fish place has some really good prices you got a phone call coming to you very soon

Nate, you don't "have" to have live sand.. even regular dry sand will become live later. As far as live rock maybe www.aquacon.com or check local craigslist/possibly aquabid. TFP has a good price on live rock for a retail store.
 
That sand is as live as dry--don't waster your $$$. Fill it with dry sand from Home Depot (well rinsed) & take a handful of another reefer's sand from their established tank, to seed it. Look for a local reef club at: www.reefcentral.com.
 
i would make sure it not silicate sand first. a lot of ppl have made the mistake of using pool filter sand and had algae issues up the ying yang. buying dry argonite is okay and seeding it with a small bag of live will work as well. same goes for the LR getting 13 lbs of base rock and seeding with 2 lbs of live will work. it will take a while but it will get there.
