has anyone ever tried colony breeding before? I just started my first in a newly planted 10 gal. I started with 2 male fancy guppies to 5 females. (will move to a 30 gal)

This is my first colony and was just wondering if anybody had any good advice?

or does anybody have pictures of their own set ups?

guppies pretty much breed on their own. you'll have babies in no time. i started with 10 and had over 100 in 6 months

I have Endlers Livebearers, won't be long before you have to start moving them to a bigger tank, or (like I am having to) setting up another tank and seperating the sexes. Mine started in a 20g long, now I'm having to move the largest females into another 20 long and move the adult males into my shrimp tank with my RCS to stop any more breeding - the females will be producing fry for months anyway even without the males!

I have a group of Sunset Platy's multiplying in a 6g tank. It started with couple of females 1 male and 4 babies from them. These were previously raised in a 40 gallon tank. But I had to move them for other fish and just through them into this tiny 6 gallon tank. The 4 babies have grown to adults 3 females 1 male and has had 20+ fry. These fry are now about 1/2" and the females are just about busting to lay more babies. I don't know how many I can keep in this small tank. This tank is an all plant tank full of Pelia Moss and Java ferns

i have 3 large mollies two females and a male, that ive had over a year and they just started making babies around 6-7 months ago. Since then ive rehomed over 50 mollies, not to mention who knows how many have been eaten by my gourami since i got him.

The best way for me is to have floating plants, either plastic or live will work but they seem for me to hide around the top the best.

I also have feeder guppies that constanly produce babies, a betta is a great way to get rid of some babies. At least mine loves to chase them around until he catches them of course lol. Different tank tho.

they are all pretty easy to breed, just give them time, clean water and hiding spots
