I've seen some beautiful setups on here with vieja and cincelichthys that utilize swordtails and/or mollies as a dither fish due to the herbivorous nature of the cichlids.

I'm going to be doing a setup with Herotilapia multispinosa and Amatitlania sajica due to their diets of plant matter, detritus, and invertebrates. I'm considering Cryptoheros cutteri, but can't find much for their dietary information, though I'm assuming it will be similar to that of the previous two aforementioned species.

Would there be an appropriate livebearer to function as a dither species in this loose biotope?

Thanks!

edit: sorry about font formatting I'm on mobile and not sure what happened!

A wild type like Green Swordtails or wild Molly species would be fine.

I have also used mollies and swords as tankmates for similar sized, less aggressive cichlids.

and high altitude, cool water live bearer types with cool water cichlids like Gymnogeophagus

and cool water (southern South American) Corys.

Love those gymnogeophagus! Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the other replies too!
