So today I wake up and water is all over the floor but its not a complete flood and the tank is still full. the water from the sump is not overflowing either. so i investigate the cause and it turns out the tube which carries water from the pump to the tanks somehow popped off and was shooting out. it must have happened just before I got up cuz the sump had not been emptied yet. still investigating how the tube came off and still kinda pissed about it.

haha ya. i have it set up so that even if the pump fails, the tank will not overflow, and if the siphon on the overflow fails, the sump would not either, so originally i thought it was a tank or sump crack. lucky for me it was just the stupid tube. it back siphoned some on to the floor but that is also set up so i would not overflow the sump so the damage was minimal. just did not anticipate this happeniing

While you are cleaing up the water I would like to recommend you get one of these little bad boys. It's a cheap yet very effective water alarm. They are designed to sit under or around hot water heater. An alarm sounds, much like a smoke detector, when the bottom of the unit gets wet. They cost about $13 and are available at Lowes. I have always used them under my tanks and they have saved my butt more than once.

Hose clamps are your friend.

haha yes they are. i had one on there originally, but when i moved i took it off and didnt put it back cuz i got lazy and figured it was tight enough not to have a clamp. regret that now and have put one on
