they totally contradict themselves, they say in the top part that adult length is 18-24in (HAHA) and then in the description they say how it gets several feet in length and weighs over 30lbs

so which is it.......LOL
makes people think twice when you tell them you have a "tetra" LMAO

last time i checked 24" classified as several feet. your a yank and u need someone who comes from the metric system to tell you that.

No, 24 inches in only two feet. Not several feet. There is no reason to expect someone who uses the metric system to know how many inches are in a foot. Or perhaps it was the term 'several' that presented the challenge.
As for the linked article, this is common practice. The length given in the top of the profile is usually the size of an average specimen. Then, later, the possible maximum size is given. So you shouldn't expect the fish to reach four feet in length, even though in the wild they do. But you should plan on housing a fish that will surely grow to at least eighteen inches as a minimum. Does that make more sense?

Several is sort of a strange word for them to use. I consider two "a couple," three "a few," and then I guess four to eleven would be several? Because twelve would be "a dozen." Maybe six would be "half a dozen." Either way, I would want to know if a fish grows four or five or eight feet... for a site which provides scientific names, thus leading one to believe it's for a more sophisticated buyer, this isn't very scientific terminology.

i think it all depends on a persons definition of several, which according to Merriam Webster can be both "more than one", or "more than two and less than many"

Several means more than two and 24" is only 2 feet :screwy:

This.

This may be technically true, but it is never used this way. If I ask for several objects, I will get at least four or five.

first of all amehel you need to not be rude, and several in my terms means more than 2 just like everyone else has said if someone were to say several to me i would think at least 3 but more like 4 or 5 and when it comes to fish there is a huge difference in the tank needed to house a fish that grows 2ft compared to a fish that grows 4 feet which is why i thought this was weird info they were giving
