Its been a while since I posted something on this site. I've been busy with other things I haven't had the time to participate in my most fav hobby. So just the other day I got a bug when I was fishing at my dock. I saw the large school of lmb fry and thought to myself, man...I really want to get a native tank going. Well I don't have a minnow net so I came up with a different way to catch a 2 in fish. I took a hook from a trout fly, prob #14 and tied it to about 4 ft of 5x tippet. I squeezed the barb down on the hook for minimal damage and then I found a worm a cut a very small piece off and dangled it in the school. It took my about 20 mins to actually catch one of the lmb frys. I had a smb but missed the hook :(. I also catch plenty of bluegill but I really just wanted some bass. I ended up keeping one of the bluegill about 3in, and one lmb, about 2in. I put them in with the largest tank mates possible. 3 giant danios, red tailed shark, rainbow shark, rosey red minnow, 2 glass catfish, and a giant comet goldfish in a 55 gal lol. They've been in for about a day now and they're doing good. The bluegill is already eatting on bloodworms and is all over the tank. The lmb is a little shy but is doing fine. I haven't seen him eat yet but that doesn't mean he hasn't. I obviously have big plans for the little guys. ie I'm not gonna let them grow up in just the 55. As they get bigger their house will too. I'm planning on finishing around 500+ gals at the end. I may see if I can get one or two more of the fry. Mainly to make sure at least one survives to adulthood.

In Colorado its illegal to take live fish from the wild. You might want to pay attention to the laws before you go posting stuff like this on the internet....

Oh I should have changed where I am, sorry. I'm in Rhode Island now. Its probably illegal here too but I don't really care. Chalk it up to research. And no I don't have any pictures just quite yet. I went to take some on my phone to find out my phone decided to break and my nice camera needs some AA batteries.
