Lmb coloration question?

Guys, i have a wild caught lmb i raised from 4 inches to 12 inches. At first when i caught him, he was with the normal lmb color... Dark green, with spots and lateral lines. After a month he lost his color. His now with a olive green color with no spots at all, he only shows his marking when his eating something but his still far from the "normal lmb color" i was hoping to see. Is this normal? Or it has to do something with food? Alkalinity of the water? Background?

He's even paler than this with no any markings

I change the substrate, there are no substrate anymore. And no plants for easy cleaning. Should i add plants? Thanks for the feedback

Add a dark substrate, some plants/cover, and maybe dim the lights.

put black/brown substrate in and tape some dark solid coloured background like black.

Thanks owain, taped a black background already and also taped a black bottom
