Hello all,

I have a problem with my LMB. He/She is a mean. I got it when it was small, it never like any tank mates. I had tried giving it a pleco to live with, but end up having that Pleco being MIA. I have a feeling it ate it for supper. When it ate it the Pleco was pretty much as big as it was about 3" and it being 4".

After that I tried to introduce other LMB to it, but it end up either beating up the newcomer and I had no choice to seperate it.

It lived a live in solitary and when ever I put fish in, it thinks it's food.

So now here is the problem. Now the 4" LMB became like a 7" bass. I tried to put in a LMB that is 3" and guess what. It chased after it and tried to eat it. Luckly I fend him off and saved the poor 3" baby.

The 3" baby was pretty shocked and got it's faced scratched up from the attemp of being food.

I thought that they don't eat their own kind, but I guess I am wrong. I took out the 7" bass now and had the 3" baby LMB and 3" baby Stripe Bass in the tank now.

Hopefully they can live in harmony. So anyone had LMB and stripe bass living together?

How come the bigger LMB wants to eat it's own kind or relative?

Is this a true striper? The one that goes to the ocean and back? I saw some bar lines across it's body and don't remember seeing this in any adult striper? Perhaps this is normal for baby stripers? Any ideas?

Fish dont care normally. When it comes to predatory fish, they eat whatever fits in their mouth. Many fish make it past the fry stage by eating their slower brothers and sisters.

LMB's are aggressive in general. It's never a good idea to place them in the same space with smaller fish, even if those fish are the same kind. And of course they'll eat smaller fish of the same kind...that's really common in predatory fish.

If you want a tank mate for this fish, you're going to have to get a fish of the same size and temperament, with lots and lots of room. You might not have enough room in the tank it's living in right now to begin with.

I know. This is a starter tank and since I am new to this, I'm trying to gain some experience points first.

I will have these fish into a 150g tank next. :D
