Just a quick question. Im not sure where the sore came from, and sorry I cant offer a picture. I cant get him to stay still. My 12" large mouth bass has a sore on his bottom lip. I know about all the common remedies such as aq. salt, temp, and mela/pimafix. Are these the treatments I should use in this case or should I go a different route?

If you think the sore is there because he bumped into something, then good water quality will cure it (amm=0, ite=0, ate=<20). The other stuff (salt, ----fix) may help, but the water quality is key. If you suspect this is something more, and in a few days, it doesn't clear up (fish heal quickly... just talk to my silver dollars) then you may need to actually medicate.

Water quality is top notch. It is probably because he bumped into something chasing after a feeder. I was just sort of worry it turned into something more because now its red and looks painful, moreso than the first day it appeared.

Ill keep an eye on it.

Yeah, I mean, if you bump and scrape your leg, it's going to look way worse the next day. Their "scabs" are underwater, so they look a lot nastier. I wouldn't worry about it right now, since your water quality is good. Maybe someone else will add in that has PBass, but my silver dollars nip fins, run into the glass, constantly, and they heal quickly. It's really the best medicine -- good water quality.

Quit fishing in your tank! :D

LOL yes. That too!

hah, yeah...I gotta watch that. He is still eating just fine. He gobbled up a dozen feeder goldfish in like 2 minutes this morning...He will be just fine.

if the sore is on the lower jaw at the tip, he probably bumped into something. I have 2 p.bass and one LMB and they sometimes develop these sores when they swim AGAINST the glass.

when i walk down my stairs and they see me they think they are getting fed so they all swim against the glass as if they were coming over to me LOL. but if the sore is what i think it is and where it is, it should heal quite quickly with good water parameters... nothing to worry about
