Today I have a 30 cm cuban gar and a 40 cm tropical gar. Can I mix those with a 60 cm longnose gar? That's the only longnose I will be able to get for a very long time so I'm really interested in getting it. But I dont want it to to eat my other gars.

I would mainly worry about the cuban gar with this mix, with that much of a size difference. I have kept some pretty small florida gars with my longnoses. Less than half the size of the longnose.

Is there the possibility of moving the cuban to another tank till it grows some more?

No. But I wont get the LNG for probably 3 months so I have some time to get the CBG bygger.

i have my cuban is 10" with 18"+ lng's...cuban(26cm) lng(46cm)

just did some convertion and the cuban you listed is 11"+ and the lng is 23"+. i think it might work from my experiences with my cuban and lng. my cuban picks on my 18"+ lngs, my 18"+ floridas and my 12"+ bowfin. they seem to not have any fear at all.

Ok. I think I will try. As I said, I have a few months before the LNG will come, I hope my CBG will be bigger by then.

it should add a few inches by then, mine is growing really fast. the lng at that size will be growing slow if at all. just have something to seperate if you need to. a rubbermaid tub with a sponge filter and heater would even work. i have done that with bichirs before.

I don't see a problem with that combination considering that you have at least three months to get your current gars to a larger size. Atractosteus gars tend to grow pretty fast during their first year of life, so you shouldn't have any issues getting both gars to 16-18" (~40-45 cm) by the time the longnose gar gets to you.

I would say it depends how old the current gars are as well, they might not be yoy anymore. As we know, after the 1st year, growth slows drastically. No telling hw much growth they might put on.

I really dont know the age of my gars. What I do know is that both the CBG and the TPG grows a lot slower than the alligator gar I had before when he was at the same size. But I guess that's expected.

That is definitely expected. Have you noticed any growth since you acquired the fish?
