Loach id

Fantastic fish with tendency to be grumpy, but they're really smart & IME it's boredom. Plenty of current, plenty of space, plenty of hiding spots and try to find "challenging" foods like live snails & crab/lobster/crawdad legs & claws, IE a tube with goodies: a Kong. https://www.kongcompany.com

Good food/husbandry will bring up the colour - that looks to be a bigger one, but missing it's green & orange tones.

May do better in a group/school, but look that up. If yes but not available, a mixed-loach school should work, erring towards the "grumpier" loach/botia sp. though clowns can usually keep up.

In case you only have the one, (color added by me)

Care: This species lives in swift streams and large rivers, over rock and gravel substrates. The substrate must ideally be fine sand to allow digging without damage to the barbels. Provide plenty of hiding places in the aquarium amongst bogwood, caves, and sturdy plants. Subdued lighting is required. Though smaller than other Tiger Loaches, S. beauforti still requires plenty of space so that aggression is reduced amongst the group. No less than 5 should be kept together.
