A while back I was moving tanks while transfering the loaches I got sliced while moving a 4"r. I had no idea how it happened but the blood was flowing. Boggled my mind a bit.

I currently have a 4' loach that looks like it's gonna pop w/ what I assume is bloat of some sort. Anyway I have had him in his own tank to keep him from eating more w/ the shoal and I decided to kind of help him a bit w/ a gentle squeeze but when I had him layed out there was one spike sticking out of his head on each side and it was a bit longer than .5". I put him back in the tank and it was gone. pulled him out and there it was again.

Never new they had that. Anyone else see this before or am I the only one that never new they were there?

Never squeeze your fish. You are only damaging him more than help. Any photos of the "bloated" loach? Be careful when handling them because they do have those spines as defense mechanism.

Is the Loach really 4 feet or was that a typo? Wouldn't a 4" loach have spines much smaller than that? Anyhow, yes they have spines & I'd cut you, too if you squeezed me while I was all backed up! Have you tried hi-fiber foods like raw vegetables?

Umm lets be real, IT WAS A TYPO and I did not squeeze the crap out of him I simply put a finger on his belly no more. I have been keeping fish longer than a week so please don't treat me as such. I will try your suggestion of veggies but he is so bloated he looks like he'll pop. I finally found some meds so we'll see how it goes thanks for the help but you can keep your sarcasm.
