How
Much salt can loaches tolerate? So far i have tried 1 tablespoon per 5 gallon on my clown loaches before and now on some kubotais and yoyo loach , since i have the kubotai and yoyo in my sump, and im having some problems with my Arowanas due to the cold weather I've added salt in my tank , anybody tried higher concentration of salt? Im thinking if i can add more salt to my aro tank? I dissolved the salt first before adding to the tank.
so far have not seen any different behavior with my loaches at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallon salt concentration.

Hi
I've used up to one kilo per thousand litres = about 2,2 pound in 250 US gallons over several days but the loaches didn't really like it. You can keep the loaches in half that concentration for weeks but make sure you use pure salt without any additives. The loaches like it warm though so don't use the salt as an alternative to heating. The first dosage was for medicinal purposes so I wouldn't recommend such dosages as a long term solution. Long term I've found around the 1 tablespoon per 5 gallon rule your using to be fine.
