So im planning on setting up my 55g for the clowns, they need more room even w/ the overfiltration i have.

planning on using a powerhead/sponge (rio2100) for some linear flow similar to here:
http://www.loaches.com/articles/my-clown-loach-aquarium

A couple questions:

1. Will they be okay if i need to move my ~5" midevil in with them for a while, a couple months.

2. If it is okay will the midevil be fine with the strong current? I remember reading that constant swimming isnt good for lake fish, something about inefficient atp production.

We call it manifold setup.:)

If your cichlid doesn't act aggressively towards bottom dwellers, then that's fine. Provide several driftwoods, PVC pipes and tough plants such as Java ferns and anubias for the loaches to hide.

I have a pair of severums in my river setup. They even spawned there much to my dismay. They don't try to go around the currents much and as much as possible, stay in areas where there is little or no currents. Sometimes, they try to ride around the currents though. If you can provide smooth rocks around for the cichlid to evade the currents, then that's good.

They'll be OK with a cichlid, as long as the cichlid can't eat them. Wouldn't recommend more than one cichlid though.

Allright! good news! i was afraid id get bashed for putting them together.

In any case ill try to keep it temporary and see how they get along together.

I plan on increasing the shoal so ill post pics when i get set up.. This is going to be my first planted tank!

Cichlids destroy planted tanks, FYI

Peacock? The aulonocaras? No, they are not compatible, water arameters and temperament wise, sorry.
