when building a stand is there a difference when accounting for an acrylic or glass tank. are the load bearing areas different for acrylic and glass.
the reason i ask is because a friend is having a custom tank built. in the beginning he was getting an acrylic tank but the guy flaked and he had our lfs order him a glass tank. dimensions of tank i believe are 48x36x24 i could be wrong. its a poly tank. he was wondering if he needed to tear it down and start over. its a pedestal type stand. any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be an issue as long as there is a flat surface for the tank.

The only real consideration is having plywood on the top to add more support for the acrylic. Since he is going with glass, it shouldn't matter.
