Brought back a mess of pikes from Uruguay in January. Got Crenicichla lepidota, Crenicichla missioneira, and Crenicichla celidochilus. Got them all eating cut up shad at this point, hopefully I can get them to start eating pellets soon.

I'm extremely jealous. I really want some celidochilus and dream of going collecting in Uruguay. Keep us updated and post plenty of pics. And if you ever tire of them, know that I will buy.

Awesome fish!

I got 3 of the celidochilus, so if I get a pair out of them I will probably sell the 3rd

Matt I would love to, but finances say no. Maybe next year definitely need to go back, Lynn might go again though. I caught all the shad last year to use as catfish bait, so have it frozen flat so it's easy to use, and free, but will probably order some pellets to feed them soon. The celidos are going to get their own setup once I grab a petstore tower soon.

Ceilos primarily eat tetras as I recall. I feed mine red wigglers and pellets. Wouldn't want them to get hooked on live/frozen food. I'm always blown away at how readily wild Uruguayan fish eat flakes and pellets...basically right out of the bag.

I think they will eat pellets if I gave them some, they will try to eat anything that gets in the water already which includes a rubber band that fell in, which it promptly spit out.
