Hello, I have a 130 gal. tank, which will be my second cichlid tank..

I currently do not have any cichlids in there right now, since the substrate and the rest of the decoration is not half way done yet.. I do have a few feeders to get the water cycled.

My friend had a lobster(no idea which kind, but it's tiny) which kept killing his fish(blue whale and some other random stuff), so he gave it to me.

I put the little lobster in my tank for right now, but I'm wondering if it'll be ok when I start getting cichlids in there... or vice versa.. will my cichlids be ok..

thanks

I dont think thats the best idea.

What size lobster?
Unless it big I would say you are just throwing in fish food. My africans ate one the size of a large crayfish. I put it in, poor thing didnt make it down to the bottom of the tank<<<absolutly vicous.

Over all probably a bad idea, but trying is what it is all about. The only way to learn is to do it and then sit back to observe:popcorn: and hope it works out.

kidding right?, and it's probly a cray fish, becuase lobster i belive need chilled water.

I don't think are any freshwater lobsters. So yeah probably a crayfish. IMO take it to a store and tell 'em you don't want it. If you're fish are small they could get attacked and if they're big they'll probably eat him.

if it's blue or REALLY red then it might be a lobster. otherwhise its definatly a crayfish.
my oscar loves the things and will eat like three of them in less than an hour. so i wouldn't worry too much

You never know-I have a blue lobster and a regular crayfish in with my South American cichlids (I have to call them those because I did in New York-nudge nudge wink wink-do you know what I mean?) and they get along fine. I used to have two crayfish, but one did get eaten after about 15 minutes. The other one is great at hiding and the blue is doing fine so so far, but my "puppies" are only 2 inches long (babies)

It was called a "blue lobster" at the store.. so I was just going by that.

I think that bastard ate one of my algae eating fish( a pleco or something? not good with names and new to fish anyways).

I hope to get some cichlids in my tank soon.

Say good by to your blue lobster when you add the cichlids. Crayfish, etc., are on the menu for most cichlids, especially when they get some size on them. The blue lobster is best for species only tanks. Get a 5 or 10 gal for him and enjoy him or trade it in for your cichlids. You will be wasting money by putting him in with the cichlids.
