I saw this blue lobster at one of the fish stores yesterday. It was $20.99. I thought about getting it, but Im not sure if it'd be alright with my current fish. 4 very small africans, 1 adult male con, 4 corys of assorted types, 1 spotted catfish, and 2 tiger barbs.

I wouldn't add it to your tank, it will eat or pick at your fish....and cichlids and many other fish will either eat it as they get bigger, or pick at the crayfish when it is molting

yup the cichlids would consider him an overgrown shrimp and would eat it if they are bigger but if its the other way around he will eat the fish

Like many other ]v[FK said... you gotta take risk when you are a ]v[FK. So with that being said, are you willing to take a risk and do an experiment? I've kept a yabby with my Oscars before together for over 8 months before I have upgrade my oscar to a different tank. Try to provide alot of hiding places and it should be fine. So, are you willing to take the risk?

Depending on the crayfish, this may or may not be any issue. Some large "yabbies" (which actually encompass a large number of Aussie crayfish that can display blue coloring, either recessively or dominantly) and cichlids/catfish/etc are easily kept together without much issue. Some are not, however. And NA blue crayfish, like the commonly sold P. alleni, will easily and happily take down small cichlids, bottom dwellers and anything slow. However, they don't reach the size that many Aussie species do, so eventually they're likely to become food to your cichlids.

It's your choice to spend the money or not, but ID the species first, because that'll save you some $ and effort from the get-go. (What size tank do you have, too, you may not have a large enough tank for some of the Aussie species, which would also be another issue to consider)
