local discus breeders/sellers in NY region

thks to all for the warm greetings to this newbie. So I live in NY 80 min. north of NYC. Hoping to find a local breeder/seller so I can save on the shipping costs + I get to choose what I am getting. Orange, Rockland, Putnam & Westchester Counties would be good but NYC/5 boroughs are ok also - I would just time my visit with another function.

In fact, I am going downtown into the city this afternoon. Short notice I know but if anyone can provide referrals be great. ;)

I found Discus Madness in Glen Ridge NJ - anyone know anything about this seller & Mathias? avionics30 of AC says no good.

I was also in awe with www.somethingsphishy.com - great pics, great variety, great prices. had me dreaming & itching to buy. but upon getting feedback on AC & checking their reviews elsewhere - it's Buyer Beware Buyer be Scared! has any1 dealt with this online seller out of FLA? so many have horror stories & the FLA BBB gave it an F! Keith is a bull to deal with if your shipment goes bad.

i am always buying and selling them.recently not at much cause i am working on a couple projects..hehe...but discuss madness is great, also on central ave. exotic pet warehouse is good to they get them in and if u want u can order what u want and he gets it in on tuesday. good luck.POST PICS
 
There is a guy in NYC by the name of "Angel" Suranga Jayanga who has recently started his business. He's been getting some fish from a couple of friends of mine, Mike Beals and Kenny Cheung, so I know the quality of the fish is good. His email is: sriangel@yahoo.com Phone: 646-533-1811.

thx xboroinc. when I get a chance to visit NJ will check him out (tho an AC member didn't have a good experience). as for exotic - is that also in glen ridge? I am not familiar with the area.

Hi there... If you can't find what you want with Angel, then I suggest you go to the forum simplydiscus... It is a great site with loads of experienced discus keepers that specializes in discus and have a great section on breeders/sponsors/sellers with lots of feedback.. Quite a few in your area I'm sure.. A lot of us "flat fish" lovers are also members there too.. two good forums for you... Good luck with your tank... Sue:D

You're right. He is now getting shipments from Wayne Ng. Quality discus for sure.
