Local Fish Store Best Lies

every store in my area renames there fish based on there apperance

My local fish store calls crayfish lobsters to get more many.

They do that near me too, my neighbour bought one, trying to convince me it was a blue lobster. Quite clearly a Cray fish. He was expecting it to reach about a foot long etc. 18 months later its still only 6" but he won't believe me!

That and "the fish will only grow as big as its tank" when a guy was asking about a pangasius catfish. Lucky I was there to stop him buying it and keeping it in his 3ft tank

I work at a lfs and when I dont know the answer I straight out tell them I dont know ...petco has some scary answers when coming to fish and there tank size

A SD lfs was selling albino channa as yellow gobies after the ban. (Don't ask where. This was back in 1995).

That seems to be a pretty common scenario, "yeah that arowanna will be great for your 20l". lol

Careful...don't want to be bashing the stores now...In some cases those crays are called lobsters and come in labeled as such so the shops just stick with the name.

I have seen wholesalers lists as lobsters.
