I'm having issues with my female proteus. Everything I attempt to put with her either gets fin nipped to the point I move it or it beats on her. There seems to be no middle ground. Led me to the idea of pairing her up. Anyone have any idea how to find a male one? I had no luck on my searching earlier.

Just rearranged her tank and found eggs lining the top of her cave....even more interested in finding a male! Anyone know how i'd go about searching?

I have no clue other than to just keep checking online sources regularly. Good luck!

Put out the word to Rapps, Grey, and John (Snoonk21) that you want a male proteus. Thats about your best bet sir. I would suggest getting several though. It generally doesn't work out the best when you try to do forced pairing with Crenicichla. Let her pick her stud.

If you could go to the ACA there is chance you might find one there. Aside from that you'll just have to keep looking and being patient. The variety of pikes seems to pick up again around September, so hang in there!

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out then. Friend said he'd let me borrow a "male" from the batch I picked this girl from. Pretty sure he's only got svenis.
