Hey, so as I continue to try and figure out a suitable 20 gallon tank, here's what I have...
1 Peacock eel (5")
9 Kuhli Loaches (2.5-3")
4 Dwarf Aquatic Frogs
2 Sumo Loaches (1")
2 Ottos (1")
1 Flying Fox (2")
2 Albino BN Plecos (.5 and 1")
4 Endlers (male) (.5" adults)
Guppy fry and mixed shrimp (handful, strongest survives)
Kay, so the idea is to keep this set-up for now, but I want to know how long this can be kept for before everyone is too big. The setup kind of revolves around having the Kuhlis and the Peacock in there (though if the peacock breaches 7" he'll go in the 55g).
Questions include:
-How long does this tank work for now?
-Can 9 Kuhlis be kept in a 20g at all? If not, how many is okay while keeping as many of the other fish as possible?
-When everyone is too big what is a good combination in the tank prioritizing the eel (assumed at 6" max) and/or the Khulis? If you have multiple combos I'd love to hear them. Anyone who has to be booted out of the tank can go into a 55g mostly-peaceful, or an empty but cycled 10g. The 55g can't take the kuhlis.
Currently no one is aggressive, the eel doesn't seem to eat anyone (other than fry/shrimp maybe?) and hangs with the kuhlis, the sumos keep to themselves, the frogs don't bother anyone and get enough to eat (I watch), the all-male cast of adult endlers/guppie-endlers are super-okay without females to chase, the flying fox thinks he's the third otto of the tank. All-in-all we have peace, so it's basically down to bio-load and space.
OPINIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I've been trying to get this tank "perfected" and I'd like to at least have an action plan for when these guys are bigger. My LFS has told me this set-up is okay for a year.
Cat
PS - My frogs are singing now, what are the chances of little tadpoles? (definately not to be left to "strongest survives"!)
