if a cichlids jaw gets locked in the outward position is it fixable?

going once?

pic?

i cant but its like the fishes mouth is open all the time. you know when a cichlid yawns? well its like it yawned but its mouth wont go back

I've read that it can be fixed by gently pulling the jaw out a little bit further than it is, in hopes of dislodging the bones that are stuck together. I also read that if left for too long it may not be repairable. At the LFS by my house they have a really nice Managuense that has its jaw locked like that.

big als right? ya ive seen it its pretty nasty

My Jing Kang got lock jaw for over a week. Scared the crap outa me. He was liplocked for 3 hours strait with another cichlid and it just stuck. It was too extended to fix so I left it. It ended up fixing itself.

as posted try to move the jaw back into place gently, it should be repairable, not experianced myself "touch wood" but ive seen it be repaired on here before.

Yea thats the one, its a really nice jag, or was.... If you can get him free or really cheap then do it and try to save him :)

If it's ripped out of place it might not be fixable, if it's just a small dislocation you can take the fish out in a net and try to gently move it back into place but extending the joints and moving the jaw in a manner that would coincide with how it moves normally when the fish yawns to try and pop the bones back into socket.
