Hi all
breeding locusts.
i have a tank full of females and males. ( 3 to 4 fems per male) i feed bras, bran flakes and moisture always. they look fat!

they oldest are bordering on 3 weeks now from its shed from 5th instar.

the cage has a laying box, a plastic container with vermiculite and moistened daily just a tad.
there are sticks and twigs over the laying box to ensure they have multiple paths to get on to it and stones esdie it to ensure they can just walk up wtih out flying or jumping to the laying area.

can you always see visible signs of laying or shall i just keep changing the box every couple of weeks?
can i leave it in there? and they just keep on layin? see crickets you have to change the laing box as adults will consume babies.

i am unable to have laying boxes that are level to the ground they walk on asi dont have the room or facilities at this stage

Dude, their is a sick and twisted guy on here named VF that breeds freakin cockroaches,I think you just may have surpassed his ability to disgust me with a breeding project.Good day.

jason longboard:
i take offence to your comment, well actually i dont care, i say that because it SHOULD be offensive. first and foremost, hello to you too

second of all, why des it disgust you that i try to breed locusts?

you are from california, where its probably a pest
i am from new zealand, they cannot survive here in the wild

so before you mouth off, maybe you should shoot yourself first

Sorry mate, I can't help you, the only advice I can give is, if you want to fatten em up, plant some bean plants, and pretend you wan't the beans from that plant, that way they should eat the crap out of the leaves, lol 8D. I really hope someone who knows what they are talknig about offers you some advice, lol.

you have obviously not known me long enough to know my humor.I am sorry for how it made you feel, you took it excatly the opposite of how it was meant.VF is a friend of mine so it was realy more of a stab at him.He always wants me to breed roaches and I am scared of them and grasshopper type bugs.So anyways,I think what you have said back to me is worthy of banning myself but whatever.Next time PM me,kids on hear dont need to read what you wrote.

ROACHES FTW!!! :D

I'm not sure how easy it is to breed locusts but I can guarantee that dubia roaches are going to be much easier. All you have to do is keep them warm and feed them. They give birth to live young so it doesn't take much effort on your part to raise them.

hmmmm can I say PICS PICS PICS

just wondering you feeding them to anything of just raising them as pets

hi longboard: fair enough. no, i dont know you well enough to think your comments were not a personal attack.. but fair enough:) i just had to defend myself lol

but now you explain i understand it is a joke. no problems.

as for the locusts.

its for bearded dragons and leopard geckos and fish. definately fish food

roaches do disgust me too, and if they escape, its kinda horrible
