Can I use any log or branches for aqua scape in my tank?

yes just make sure their safe.

i.e.

-clean
-no mold/fungus
-no sap
-haven't been chemically treated..

etc etc..

u should try to boil ur wood before use..

i dunno, there's potential for fire if the wood is to close to the element... i would just stick to boiling it. u can also put the wood in large buckets and pour boiling water in them. then repeat..

ur gonna most likely have to soak the wood anyways to keep it from floating..(depending on where the wood is from)

There's a great thread on this site about driftwood. Type up driftwood on the search and you should see it there.

stay away from soft woods like pine and cedar as the contain terpinites(spelling?) that could be harmfull to your fish. they will also decay faster. hard wood such as oak and maple are ideal. i don`t bother with boiling i just soak in a bucket with salt for a few weeks and do a couple of water changes untill it sinks then i add to my tank
