Hi, I’ve found a loiselle for sale online, and knowing how hard to come by they are, I’m really tempted to get it.
I know they can live in a 60 for life, is that with tank mates or without, and what would be a safe tank mate? I currently have a Dempsey, parrot, Severum, and leporinus in there.
Also, how fast do they grow to full size, and at what point would become a problem with other fish?
I know it’s a lot of questions, I just can’t find any information on them.

60g for life and no tank mates for a female is possible but not for a male. I’ve seen 12” males. They can turn on tankmates at any size.

your 60g is more than fully stocked Once all those fish turn into adults.

They are also no longer called Parachromis loiselle. They are now P . friedrichstahlii.

Ok, thanks.
I always thought they were two different species.

There is some confusion as to whether loiselle is multifasciatus, or whether it is friedrichstahii.
The term loiselii was dubbed in the late 1900s, and considered invalid, because the same fish was already given a different name 100 years before.
I believe its about when the original species was found
The Cichlid Room Companion still has friedrichthllii as a valid name, but now lists loiselle as multifasciatus.
Which one is for sale, could be anybodies guess.
Beyond that, I consider a 60 too small for any but a single female, as Rocksor mentioned.

Thanks for the help
