Are Loiselli an easier going fish than the other Parachromis species. I'm planning on keeping convicts, firemouth, salvini, rottkiel and was thinking a Jaguar but heard they were a little too aggressive for the other smaller fish. Don't want them beaten up constantly by a really aggressive fish.

dont know to much about the loiselli. but when i had 2 of them around 6-7 inches they didnt bother any of my other fish.

Loisellei are a more passive species of Parachromis, but are still Parachromis and are very capable of inducing harm to other fish. It depends totally on the fish that you get.

Terd Ferguson has a Parachrome tank, and his Loisellei just recently killed his female Dovii. Males can reach a size of ~14" and females around 10.

How big is your tank? Dimensions?

He has a 120... I suggest against it.

I agree.

Dont risk losing your other fish, a 120 isnt big enough.

120 as in the 4x2x2? I've kept mana's in 4 footers with other cichlids before no problem for a good amnt of time. The tankmates could handle them selves though and were around the same size. With your stock I'd say its do able with a loisellei but watch out. Parachromis can flip w/o a moments notice from puppy to pitbull.

This is correct. In fact, I was totally surprised they killed the little female dovii. The loiselli pair is THE most laid back in the tank. But that just goes to show you, you really can't predict how any of the Parachromis species will react from day to day. It can be different from species to species and from fish to fish and from day to day.

I think the bottom line of what happened in my tank was the little female dovii was new to the tank (a couple of days at most) and very intimidated by all the big fishes already well established in the tank. It just so happens she chose to hide in some java moss that was the loisellis' fry's grazing area. And they defended their babies by biting the face off the little female dovii.

That said, the loiselli pair routinely allow all three synodontis much closer to their fry and nest than that little female dovii ever got. Go figure. Then again, that's the only murder I've had in the almost two years these guys have been together. At the end of the day, and no matter how tame, a tiger is still a tiger so to speak.
