Dont forget to turn the heater off whilst doing a water change, and panic when u hear a sizzling sound and push it back into the water slice your hand when it explodes (ouch) i learnt my lesson.

Just melted the rubber to one of my old heaters a week or so ago.
Sorry.......I can't claim my 1st instinct was to grab it bare-handed though lol

true they are but they still break if you submerge them to hot, they can withstand more temp change then the cheeper thiner ones but are not bulletproof. your better off hooking them up to a separate outlet or power-strip on a switch so you can turn off during water changes. the other thing you can do is set them up so that they are lower in the water if its submersible just set it closer to the bottom at an angle

yeah was so stupid of me, i normally unplug everything apart from the light but i forgot this time, n panicd and pushed it under haha, luckily it didnt hurt any of my fish

:)

Good job you didn't get a shock!

I was resting my arm against a filter that was switched on and didn't realise until I heard the sizzling sound. :screwy:

These days I turn everything apart from the lights off when I do anything in the tank.

haha that must of sucked i had my ten gal heater on when no water was on then when i touched it to put it some where else it sizzled my had and i was scared. i thought i was burned but i wasnt :)
