I have a clown and a royal (I'm praying it's a royal...that's what they told me it was...). The clown outgrew the royal pretty fast. I got the clown @ 3" and the royal @ 2". The clown is now nearly twice the size of the royal. I upgraded the clown to a larger tank and kept the royal in the other tank till I can get them the same size again.

My problem is that they have both stopped eating. I did this three days ago. I also had a tsnXrtc in the same tank and transferred him to the larger tank with the clown. The catfish ate within a day of being transferred.

How do I get them to eat? I know it sounds funny, but are the two knives missing eachother? The royal stays hidden now whereas he was always out and about with the clown...any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just an update...I couldn't stand lookin' at them starve themselves anymore so I moved the smaller one into the tank with the clown. It's been 4 days and still they haven't eaten. Hopin' reuniting them will do the trick...

What you feeding them i use to feed mine prawns and lance fish at that size i would try live bloodworms if that still doesnt work check your water parameters. Hope its nothing serious

You and me both...

Right now I primarily feed them nightcrawlers with occasional feeders (all my attempts thus far at getting either to eat anything but those two live things have failed.) They both were eatin' fine until I moved the larger one to a bigger tank. Then they both stopped eating and have yet to start up again.
I also have a tsnXrtc that grew up with the two knives and when I put him in the larger tank (1 day after the large knife) he ate the next mornin'...a lot. Water perams are fine. The scenery is quite a bit different though...maybe they just need to get used to their new enviornment...I hope.

Tried that as well. I didn't used to matter before I moved them. I tried waiting till night and they both still ignored the feeders and worms.

Do they have bulges in their stomach? do they still poop..i know its uncommon for knives but they might have bloat...

Nope. I fed them just before I moved them and their bulges have gone down. They have also pooped, so i'm not all that worried about them having a bloat.
Last night I did notice that the larger clown had a slight bulge in his side and there was no sign of the nightcrawlers that I had put in the tank earlier...maybe he's finished starving himself...I'll keep you guys posted...

I have a CK about 22" and a Royal about 10". I call them Flotsam and Jetsam. They're best buds and I hardly ever see them more than an inch apart. My fish would eat for about a week last time I rearranged the tank decorations and took some cichlids out of the tank. I do think they're better off together in spite of the size difference. I'm glad you but him back. I think they'll start eating again once they get used to the new surroundings. I got mine to start eating again by putting in black worms. Even though they're barely a crumb for the big guys, the smell of them seems to improve their appetite. Good luck.

Thanks. I ran out of feeders the other day and am gonna get some more today. See if I'll actually be able to see them feast...I miss watchin' them hunt down the feeders and then gulp them down in an instant...
