Lonely female GT

I've had my little 4" GT for about a month now, she's battling cloudy eye on one side, and today she laid eggs - but there's no male in the tank!

poor girl, she's defending the eggs so strenously but they have no chance... Kinda sad, really.

I would vacuum them up to save her the stress. The sooner she gets better, the sooner she can have a "special friend".

What else is in the tank??? I may be wrong but if you have the right combo she may actually be defending something

75G long - GT, c. sveni pike cichlid, albino bichir, black skirt tetras?

you are correct sir, although the pike cichlid is in a different tank while the GT recovers from the cloudy eye... once she gets better and grows a bit, I hope to put the pike back in.

If I don't, will she keep laying eggs? Because, while I would absolutely love to have a pair of GT's, from what I understand the male will beat up the female fairly regularly. I don't have extra tanks to keep removing the male... I really mostly want a tank that is relatively harmonious.

Maybe the answer is to swap the female for a male...
