Hi new to the site , I have a 30 gallon freshwater tank, my plecostomas is
the only survivor and grew to 6-7 inches , and has a bad habit of nipping and killing anything I put in the tank,

Any suggestions of what would match up and live in the tank with this nut case pleco , . i was thinking chiclids or danio's

any thoughts out there !!

Thanks

do you feed the pleco at all ( i mean anything other than algae wafers ?) if not that is why he nips at and eats everything else in the tank.

i guarentee you start feeding him good foods (slices of cucumber, zuchini, tomatoes (are a favourite of mine i just give them the skin and the surrouding less juicy part though) lettuce, and some meaty foods such as fish fillet, raw shrimp, or other seafood type meats.) and you will see a drastic change in temperament and he will tolerate more tankmates

but sometimes they aquire a taste for the other fish in the tank and even after they are fed a proper diet they continue this undesirable behaviour. If this is the case then you'll end up just molding the tank around him (and only him! lol).

on a side note if he is already 6-7 inches than he has outgrown the 30 gallon tank he is in (assuming standard 30 gallon tank footprint) and you should look into a larger tank (perosnaly i would say a 75 gallon becuase thats the closest size to your tanks size that is wider and would accomodate a large pleco turning better
