Hi guys,

Just got myself 1 senegal LF and 1 albino sen LF and they both have an abnormality of some kind, but im guessing that that would be common amongst LF's for obvious reasons, true?

1. Albino Sen LF : has one big long nostril and the other is non existant...Will the other grow back? Will it look less unsightly as he/she gets bigger? Is it snippable?

2. Sen LF : This guy has an abnormal cup shaped Anal fin, it isnt a huge problem but it does look a little odd... Not too worried about this guy...

Well, i will post up a few pics a bit later on of " boogah " & " scoop " but any ideas going on the above will be awsome!

Ta!
e.:D

Chances are the first one is perfectly normal, but another fish nipped off his nostril. the other nostril should grow back i'm thinking. i would NOT snip the other one!

the cup shaped anal fin is an abnormality though....not sure about it.

( nostril being bitten ) ahhh... yeh i was thinking that was a possiblity...but snipping..., even if it were an option, i prolly wouldnt do it...lol

Yes, as soon as i seen him i thought, wow def a male, but they are both only like 4-5 inches... but i guess it would make sense that he is a male having that kind of deformity...

So is it common amongst LF's to have abnormalites/deformities seeing as though they are LF's? I mean is the LF gene an abnormaility in it self?

Sorry but a bit of a newb "]

i'm no expert on LF genes, but i don't really think its a deformant (is that even a word?) i think they just started selective breeding senegals for the longest finnage and eventually got to where they are today. i'm sure in the future there will be some CRAZY finnage!

i dont think its any kind of dermormality, the nostril is just bad luck and it got bit by somthing or lost it in an accident(jumping etc) .

the cupped anal fin i think is completely normal and its just a male

well bichirs don't have nostril holes, so it was bitten off or torn off and has fully healed

just wait and see
