Got a long fin oscar a few months ago and some of his fins are black. I've read this can be from stress and all but he doesn't seem to be stressed any more as he has finally stopped letting the small female convicts push him around, haha. Will his fins always be black or will they eventually go back to his body color?

I would imagine it is natural and coming with growth, not the best expert on Oscars, owned a couple but IMO i think it is alright!

I think the dark edges are a pretty contrast even if it wasn't planned :)

Pretty good looking oscar you got there! As for the fin color I'm not sure, might be some thing to change when the fish gets bigger.

I have one in my 220, however he isn't albino and he is growing very fast and his fins have a little white on them and I think it's just in the genetics of the fish. His was black all the way and then changed to some white on the tips and is starting to black back up....so it's changing as he grows :)

If it stays or changes it won't bother me but the black does look good, I should know soon enough..Seems he/she is starting to pack on some weight, really loving the massivore and shrimp diet. Just like any other oscar it's begging for food whenever it sees me, haha!

From what I understand that is a Lutino Oscar, I hadn't seen one that was long fin. I picked one up myself (normal fin) with the same type of black edges and almost completley black pectoral fins. From what I've read there is a possibility they may grow out of it but I'm hoping mine doesn't, I think it looks awesome.

Really nice looking O, make sure to take lots of pics of him/her growing up.

Never heard of the lutino Oscar, will have to do some research on it.

It's normal. Many Lutino Oscars have some dark pigmentation on the edge of their fins, I guess him being "long finned" makes it easier to notice.
