Hi! I'm just starting my research, so I won't be posting much I am sure.
I'm not new to the hobby, but took a long break. I'm back in with a 46 gallon corner setup for now. My plan is to buy a new house in the somewhat near future (depending on market and being able to sell mine), and putting something big in when I do. I won't be moving in and setting things up, so best case I have a year to plan.
I'm planning on doing the equivalent to a swedish fireplace but with an aquarium in a finished basement. I like the idea of it being visible from two rooms. Right now I am debating on a few things, DIY vs. buy, size, etc. I was leaning toward DIY until I saw that a raw tank can be had for under $1000. I can't decide size until I have the house, but I am thinking 96 inches long, so either a 240 long or 300 wide is likely where I will end up.
I'm here to learn about things on a bigger scale, I've never had more than a 75...and mostly 55s. I am also thinking that I'll be looking into plumbing to the tank for water changes.
