I am not sure what it is. It is a long, almost body length size, white, thin, string-like (thing) attached to my Gulper Catfish. I have been giving him Metro-dosed food thus far, which my LFS recommended. I assume something spurred up due to the power outages we suffered in the north east from hurricane sandy. He is eating, acting normal and seems un-phased. Are these things flukes? or some parasite? It is not coming out of the anus area, but rather the upper portion of his body. He had one which just flaked off a week ago, and he recent started another one up.

Thanks

Sorry, mate. From the OP, I have no idea. An external parasite of such size I have never heard of. I imagine that it could a weird way of shedding slime. A photo usually goes 1000 times farther than words.

Yup, I picked the 2nd one off. The first flaked off. Imagine a 7" white fishing line seeming coming off a 9" Gulper's upper body. I'll try to snag a picture of the spot I plucked it from.

Thanks.

I'm treating his silver-sides now to be preventative.
