On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
Anyone know of a good water body near the DFW (within 2hrs) to collect long ear sunfish? Anyone have a few larger ones that they wanna donate to me :)

Also I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a good native fish collection trip next weekend possibly, local ponds or elsewhere near DFW. PM me if your interested in the collection trip. Thanks ~Trent

Ummm...No. Thanks for asking. Longears are fairly common in their native range.

Bump, nobody in the DFW area is going fishing anytime soon??? C'mon guys surely someone is brave enough to go this time of year although it is about 15 degrees with the windchill right now even though yesterday it was 77 degrees...stupid weather.

Ewurm is right, they are fairly common in most places in TX, lots of smaller community ponds have been stocked with them as well as some of the major lakes like Sam Rayburn and a few rivers down near San Marcos I believe have high densities of them ~Trent

Longears a protected in some of their range. I know they are protected in NY but I'm not sure about any of the other states.

They aren't in MN, but are very rare. I can buy them at the lfs for $15 though.
