can a longnose gar about 12 inches
get along with a silver arro about 10 inches
in a 55 for a few days????

I don't think I would try it. Though I don't have much experience with gars.

as long as your estimates of length are very close to reality, then they should be ok for a few days. provide a lot of floating plants so they can remain secure at the top (this will keep the fishes from spooking each other too much). also be ready for some nipped up fins, but other than that you should be ok. just to make sure your arow (at 10") is thicker than the longnose, correct? if this is the case then they should be ok for a brief period of time--

Its a trial and error situation...it may work, it may not. I put my 11" aro in with my 12" tropical gar, and he bit at her more then once, taking her entire tail and a few side scales. I put her back in her previous tank and she healed right up. I won't be trying this again for quite a long time until she is much bigger.

So, if you must try it, keep the gar well fed and def. keep an eye on them.
