Hey all, I have a longnose gar about 12 inches long and have had it for about 2 weeks now. He spends a lot of time hanging out near the surface and in the tank plants, but he regularly swims into the glass on the sides of the aquarium and has rubbed the tip of his nose enough that it has become white and is beginning to develop a growth. He is still eating fine and has been since I got him. Worried about a potential infection on the tip of the nose, if this is the case does anybody have any recommendations for a treatment option? Even if it is treated he will likely not heal unless he stops swimming into the glass, so I was also wondering if anybody has any suggestions to prevent this behaviour. I have tried covering the sides of the tank with black sheets and it does not seem to do anything. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
