I was wondering if a longnose gar would be able to tolerate a temp of around 86 degrees? I was interested in growing out a baby peacock bass with him. Thanks in advance!
I have had longnose, alligator and common florida gar all at that temp with numerous peacock bass. The temperature is no problem. The problem comes when the gar can no longer compete for food with the bass. I have found that gar and peacock bass don't do real well together in the long run. Just my experience.

I have read before that they do not do well together in the long run, and I was not planning on keeping them together for too long. Thanks for your help!
I have 2 peacock bass with my Florida Gar. I have a 4 inch mono and a 6 inch temensis and the gar is constantly chasing them around the tank. You would just have to pay close attention, especially at higher temperatures, when your gar gets hungry. Higher temperatures speed up metabolism and cause hungry fishies... A hungry gar is a brazen one.
