soo i just ordered 84 large loofahs, to use on my 530. I was wonder if this was a smart move for only 20 bucks.

I would say this is a very bad idea. If you bought real loofahs, dont use them. Loofahs are a type of gourd, and will decompose in your tank in no time. If you are referring to the plastic poofs / body scrubbers, thats a different story. They wont decompose of course, but some of them contain an anti-fungal chemical, which would not be safe for fish.

Agreed. It just depend on what they are made from. Some are great. Others, not so much.

What, pray, is a Loofah?

A MESH devise to be used in the shower (as a kind of washrag)...plastic (nylon)are sometimes used for bio media..

Oh, i see..would never trust that. Most must be impregnates with chemicals or detergents....

could well be ..I might not be quick to use them either...

You have a 530, and are prepared to spend $20 on bio for it. (shakes head)

Seriously, thats a good size tank, and most likely your going to have some nice big fish in there ! I would be inclined to get the most efficient bio media $ wise I could use for my setup. There are plenty of threads on this site explaining different types of media and setups.
