Was very tempted to buy a beautiful 15" albino AG I saw at Chatuchak aquarium market a few months back. Unfortunately just a bit of research told me I was in no way prepared to properly care for such an eventual beast long-term.

Do you have a picture? I've never seen an albino one. Seen plenty of platinum.

Sorry Hao I probably used the wrong terminology, in hindsight I'm sure they were Snow or Platinum Gar, not Albinos but I don't know enough about Gar to really tell the difference (and stopped my research when I saw how big they got). However, shop owner (who also sold me my Blue Base) guaranteed they weren't WTT and would remain white regardless of tank background. If I remember correctly prices were around ~2,000 USD @ Chatuchak Aquarium market.

Yep there's a wide variety of prices at Chatuchak, and of course also depends on quality of fish, reputation of breeder and one's negotiating skills (and i didn't get to that stage).
