So we go cast netting for bait for fishing, and I just thought I would share these pics with you.....this was not fun to pull up outta the canal from about 15ft up!!

Nasty Silver Carp that have taken over the Illinois River....and making there way into the Canal system as well...TY to whoever release these things into the River This is an Example why you shouldnt let fish go where they dont belong! It just makes a NASTY mess.....

damn right those ****ers are massive invaders!! those and asian carp, im sure we have all seen that hooked show with all those fish flying around in the mississippi...

don't make it suffer... i believe invasive species are horrible but you don't have to torture it

Yep These are them! Asian Carps aka Silver Carp, In all the news reports and everything around here when it first happened they were calling them Asian Carp, then someone Complained and said that it was giving Asia a bad rap or something like that and they had to call them Silver Carp, and yes they do Fly out of the water, All the Boats on the river that have been researching them and watching there spread, have Caged there boats so they don't smoke them in the head. The last lock of the canal here is connected to the river...at night you can see these guys buy the thousands jumping by the lock to try and get over, and end up smoking themselves off the walls. I wish there was an easy fix to getting rid of them...being that basically the only way to catch them is with a cast net, boat motor, or bow fishing.....and there aren't as many people as there are fish to get them all out....sad sad thing to see

Nope I feel for all animals, dont make them suffer...usually very swift blow to the head, or quick snap of the neck! On a fish that size it was a blow to the head!
