I won a breeding pair of brown bristlenose at an auction 3 weeks ago for $6. Stuff usually doesn't go that cheap I just caught people sleeping. The male is about 4" the female is at least 3". Today when I was feeding them I found this little guy on the glass. I'm amazed because I have well water with a pH about 8 and I've just been feeding them cichlid flakes. I always thought plecos were harder to breed than that.. I can't find anymore fry in the tank so I'm not going to separate it from it's parents. Do you guys think it will be okay in there with them until it gets a little larger? I was also wondering when can I expect the plecos to breed again and what is the ideal tank setup to breed them in?

Should be fine as long as there isn't anything else to snack on it. Congrats!

Congrats! I hear that BN are pretty easy to breed.

Way to burst his bubble.

Yeah I know they're one of easiest to breed. I don't have good luck with plecos in my hard water so I only keep the hardy ones. They sell them by the bagful at every auction but they still go for a decent price usually. If I can get them breeding I can make some my electricity $ back by selling fry.

I get really excited every time something new breeds too. That makes for the 4th thing that I've found successfully breeding in my tanks within the last week and a half. The fish must like spring weather because its been in the 70's in Michigan this week.

Look what I found while I was doing a water change earlier! At least a dozen or so normal babies and 1 albino! I did not expect this spawn at all because I currently have them housed in a 10gallon with 9 small angels.. I have actually been trying to sell them but the more they randomly spawn for me the more I want to keep them lol..

Can you spot the albino one?
