Look what I found.

Looks like a broken off peice of epoxy
 
It's rubber like in texture. I just have no idea where it came from. My only guess is that it was in the gravel and I missed it when I initially rinsed it (Ages ago). A couple days ago my Flowerhorn started acting really skittish. Since it's removal she -seems- to be back to normal... for now.
 
Thought it was like a thorn from a plant or something but if it's rubbery then probably epoxy like xraycer mentioned.

At first I thought it was part of a catfish... I couldn't get a raphel cat out of her tank because it would wedge itself so tight in the driftwood. I thought she ripped part of it up but nope.

Then probably silicone, as epoxy would be hard. Could have came in with the gravel during its packaging.
 
+1 - Looks like black silicone, often used to glue trim or finish canopies
