He is a solid 8" long. He was in a 100+ gallon pond and the store owners would periodically put him in tank with a caiman. (I think it was because he didn't play well with the oscars in the pond.)
I felt bad for the poor fish. But I am fortunate to find him. 
I had seen him maybe 4 months ago, but didn't have the room or cash for him. When I did have the room and money he was no where to be found. A couple of weeks ago, I saw him in the pond again. Apparently, he was placed in with the caiman til they sold the caiman and when I got him he was hiding under some rocks in a turtle tank. This guy has finally made it to my 125 gallon and is doing great!
