I am getting a 6 foot round plastic tank and need some ideas for a cover to keep the fish from jumping. It will be 30in deep but I only plan on filling it up to about 16in.

small diy wood frame and a vinyl screen

Thin acrylic top, cut to fit then use rubber straps like the ones big rigs use to hold down their hoods but the smaller versions. I saw some at lowes. Or even a bungee cord and you can put hinges on it too. 1/4 inch acrylic would be good and you can drill through it.

Why not try some foam insulation? it would keep the fish in and the heat/cold out:)

Howdy,

If I understand the problem right, a net would be best. Try a gardening store. Many people with strawberry fields buy big nets in oder to keep the birds off their strawberries. Or a pond supply store. Some people cover their ponds with nets to keep herons away from their goldfish.

The net sounds like a cheap and good way to do it.

why not just try a cheap pool cover. you can buy them at walmart to fit the pools that they sell. The covers that oddball sugested look good though

you will spend the same amount as you would on a net thats made for what he needs;)
