Looking at starting a new tank, here are my ideas for fish

Hey guys I currently own a 55 gallon tank with a 4" polypterus bichir. I want to add some friendly fish that will not be shy and fun to watch and interact with. I am looking at a fire eel for sure seeing as most people seem to enjoy them alot and maybe a gar? I will be upgrading the tank seeing as I will be getting them as babies I think they will be ok for a while. Does anyone else have ideas of non shy fish that would go along good with these guys? Gar is a maybe by the way.

i would go with a African or ghost knife they are nice.
 
what size tank will you be upgrading to and how soon will it happen, what filtration do u have at the moment and what filtration are you getting, what are your current tank params
 
A fire eel get's up to 36" or bigger...
 
Without knowing what you are planning on upgrading to and when we really can't advise you on stock choices. As far as tinfoil barbs and bala's as charles mentioned unless you going with a 6 foot tank id not consider those.
