I'm trying to track down a female blue gene Jack Dempsey. To clarify, that's a JD that carries the recessive blue gene. I know there are EBJDs on the market but I've had no luck tracking down a recessive female.

This may be a very Dumb question, but you are looking for a normal Female JD that has the Blue gene correct. If she is a normal JD how will you know if she has the gene in her unless she has already bred and produced EBJD. Please Clarify as I have a few JD here and if there is a special way of telling I may or mat not have one.

The only way I know of is to get a female from a group of fry that has produced electric blue males. I really don't know what's being done with those females. One or two is usually kept to breed back to the original male but the rest have to be in the trade somewhere. Another way would be to get a female that has already been bred and produced blues but I'm guessing thats harder to find because most breeders keep their couples together.

Where did you get your blues from? If I can track down a breeder I might be able to get what I'm looking for. Anyone with electric blues will have blue gene females.

I get mine from a supplier that orders them in. They do not breed at their facility and they do not sell to the public.

Hollywood has a gorgeous 4.5" female EBJD on aquabid. Right now bid is at $103 and ends tomorrow (10-22-07) afternoon!!!!

Blue Dempseys have enough genetics weaknesses… please do not breed Father to Daughter and weaken them even further…
There are a handful of hobbyists working together to diversify the bloodlines spawn only the strongest fish together to make Blue Dempseys. Please do not pollute the market with inferior fish, if your going to do it do it right…
