Never had an aquarium. but in the future I plan to set up one, unfortunately I will have to move about 3 years so need patience till that day comes(would be big problem moving aquarium I heard). Still I read that gathering information about this hobby never too early to begin.
Plan to get minimum (75 gall aqurium- maximum 150 gall)So I ask you is there any fish species exist with these features:
1, Must belong among piranhas or have the look of them(I am just love of their looks since was little but parents never allowed to have them)
2, I would prefer to keep it as a single specimen, is there any non shoaling piranha species or look alike which dont need to be kept in shoals?
3, Would prefer if the max size wouldnt be bigger than 15cm

Is there any kind of piranha that fit all of these 3 criteria?
What would you recommend?
Thanks for the help!!!

I do not believe there are any pirahna smaller than 25cm.

Black rhom piranha are single specimin fish that can live in a 75, but 125 is ideal for long term health.

Depending on their legality, snakehead might work too as a single or pair specimin tank

I really wanted to have one but if there is no smaller piranha species than 25 cm, I will have to gave up on them. Blacks seems to be way too big, some report say can grow till 40 cm, I fear even 125 gall wouldnt be enough, not to mention at that size apparently can harm to heaters too troublesome.

Never seen Snakeheads around here, now checked the laws and no surprise they are forbidden so they are out as option.

Actually, there are several piranha species that do not exceed 25cm which you can rear in a 75-150g tank. Off the top of my head that I can think of, ruby red spilo sanchezi, humeralis, elongatus, brandti and possibly geryi.

Aha. Thanks greenerinks greenerinks i was not quite sure.

For what reason do you want piranha? If you are looking for a super aggressive fish they are not best since they are often quite timid

Checked all of them, while most of them reach max 25 cm.
Serrasalmus sanchezi and Serrasalmus humeralis seems to be growing maximum 20 cm, you are right one of these might fit into the tank I plan. Thanks !

Probably weird reason but I love how they look appearance wise.

Please be responsible and check your state laws before going out and seeking piranhas to own. For example, California considers all species of piranhas (except the wimple piranha) as an illegal species to own.

What country is this? Also make sure your food, filtration and waterchanging is good, aim for 10x turnover and 50% weekly waterchange if possible to avoid Hole In The Head (HITH) which can be an issue. Also avoid live feeders they are super bad in most cases
